I have written and deleted this section 10x already. I don’t know why I’m finding it so difficult to share my story.

I was 12 years old when I lost my dad to suicide, I want to say I’m doing this for him… because if he had the right help and people to talk to, he might still be here but truth is… would he have even sought the help? I don’t know. Every circumstance is different. As I’m writing this I’m asking myself, what will raising this money do? Will it change anything? It won’t bring my dad back…

It’s been 22 years since he took his own life, 22 years ago it was even less common for men to talk about how they’re feeling or to let people know they’re struggling…. Sadly it’s still not as spoke about as it should be in mainstream society today.

Whats even sadder, my dad isn’t the only man I have known personally to have taken his life. Suicide is unfortunately way more common than we hear about

Suicide is the biggest killer in men.

Every suicide will traumatically effect on average 6 people, Mums, dads, brothers, sisters, sons, daughters, grandparents, partners, friends… all experiencing loss, trauma, grief and heartbreak.

Climbing a mountain to raise money won’t change my story, take back the pain that rippled to so many when my dad passed, but if climbing a mountain and raising money can help just 1 person who reaches out to men’s minds matter, I will not only be helping the person in need but also be preventing a whole family and community from experiencing the trauma of suicide.

The money raised may prevent another little girl from having to grow up without her daddy.
