In 2024, Escape Arts CEO Karen Williams and Deputy CEO Niamh Oldham took on incredible physical challenges to fundraise for Escape Arts. Karen swam the full 5.5-mile length of Coniston Lake, while Niamh completed the 109-mile Cleveland Way with her Dad, Phil. Inspired by the support they received and the impact they saw their efforts make, they’re back for more in 2025: with even bigger challenges!
This summer, Niamh will take on the 195-mile Coast-to-Coast Walk from 29th June-13th July, while Karen will tackle the 7.5-mile swim across Ullswater Lake on 12th July. Volunteers Hattie and Joe will also be getting involved by rowing five miles on the beautiful River Avon, supported by the adaptive rowing programme at Stratford-upon-Avon Boat Club.
Miles for Smiles shines a spotlight on the powerful link between physical and mental health. Through these endurance challenges, our team demonstrates how physical activity can be a vital tool for mental wellbeing, helping to manage stress, improve mood, and build resilience. By pushing their physical limits, our team are not only raising funds but also raising awareness of how movement, nature, and community can play a crucial role in supporting mental health.
A donation to Escape Arts means more than just financial support: you’re helping create real change in people’s lives. In a time where the need for community connection and mental health support has never been greater, small charities like ours are facing rising costs, increased demand, and diminishing funding. That’s why your donation, no matter the size, makes a huge difference. It helps us keep vital services running, reach more people, and continue to be a lifeline for those who need it most.
Join us in cheering the team on and help bring more smiles to Warwickshire through the transformative power of arts, health and wellbeing.
