Hi all, I’ve decided to take on the challenge of climbing Mount Snowden for the amazing charity Men’s Minds Matter. They are charity close to my heart that specialise in the prevention of male suicide.
75% of all deaths by suicide are male, and a man or boy kills themselves every two hours in the UK. Suicide is the leading cause of death for men under the age of 55 therefore any donation (big or small) to my fundraiser will help keep men and boys alive.
The reason I’m fundraising for this charity is due to the help and support they’ve provided me personally.
I used to be a happy, cheeky lad who loved a challenge in life and was always able to hold everything together but following on from the breakdown of my marriage two years ago my mental health deteriorated. Everything that I had for worked my whole life, most importantly the love and drive for being the best dad for my children (which I was unable to see at time) was gone in my eyes and I believed they would be better without me.
Loneliness and depression didn’t take long to settle and last year I attempted to commit suicide on a couple of occasions. Fortunately for me it was not my time and with the amazing help from friends, family and MMM I’m now getting better, one day at a time.
I know I still have a long way to go but I promise I will fight to be the dad I once was (in fact better) and repay the faith shown to me by all those who have supported me including the amazing Men’s Minds Matter!!!
Be part of something special and let’s break the stigma together. Thank you 😁
