My little girl has a visual impairment. Erin's diagnosis has led us down roads we couldn't have imagined and without the support of our family and charities like Angel Eyes NI, we would not have been able to navigate this new world and get her the support she needed.
Cost of living and austerity have had a huge effect on the fundraising abilities of charities and while I know you'll all be feeling it too, if you can support us in any way, we would appreciate every penny. It will help Angel Eyes NI to continue to offer the services that our family have been lucky enough to have in our corner.
Angel Eyes NI was set up by parents of blind and partially sighted children who felt the same fear and trepidation that we did when Erin was first diagnosed and they provide emotional and practical support for parents in the same position.
I would like to specifically mention how supportive they have been regarding Erin's education. Karen and her team have been on hand to help us ensure that Erin's school experience is as alike her classmates as possible. With possible cuts and huge delays already affecting the Education Authority's ability to support children like Erin, the work that Karen etc. are doing is all the more vital as parents fight to get their children what they deserve.
If you can sponsor Mum and I as we head off on a this hike, it will be a big help- to Angel Eyes NI, to children like Erin and to me as I drag myself after my much fitter mother and attempt not to embarrass her!
Thank you.
