On Saturday 28th March, I’m lacing up my trainers and taking on the Bath 50km Ultra Challenge to raise money for Developing Health and Independence (DHI), a charity very close to my heart. As both a former employee and a current trustee, I’ve seen first-hand the life-changing impact their work has on individuals and communities.
DHI supports people facing some of life’s toughest challenges, including homelessness, substance misuse, poor mental health, and social exclusion. Their mission is to help people build healthier, more independent lives by providing practical support, guidance, and opportunities for long-term change.
Working across areas such as Bath, Bristol, Wiltshire, and Somerset, DHI delivers a wide range of services. These include housing support, drug and alcohol recovery programmes, mental health services, and employment and skills development. What makes DHI unique is its person-centred approach—recognising that no two journeys are the same, and tailoring support to meet each individual’s needs.
The charity doesn’t just address immediate crises; it focuses on long-term outcomes, helping people regain confidence, rebuild their lives, and reconnect with their communities. DHI also works with families and young people, offering early intervention and prevention to break cycles of disadvantage.
Every donation, no matter the size, will help DHI continue this vital work and support more people to achieve lasting independence.
Thank you so much for your support - it really does make a difference.
