With everything that has been released about the Mother & Baby homes this week, your heart is probably breaking like ours, and although mother and baby homes may no longer exist the stigma is very much still alive. 

We began our reproductive justice fight with Now For The North back in May 2019 on the anniversary of the REPEAL as we felt left behind, and I’m sorry to tell you that we are indeed still left behind. Although the law changed in July 2019 and provision was to be in place for women to have free, safe, legal and local abortions access in March 2020 - that sadly was not the case. Women were making a journey across to England in the height of the pandemic and throughout this entire time. Although Abortion has been decriminalised here it is not as accessible as you would like to think, and many people have found themselves in very difficult situations.

Women in NI need access to telemedicine now, as they are being advised to stay at home like everyone else, but finding themselves in difficult situations. Abortion is a difficult conversation, it’s been so stigmatised in our little isle religion has made its was into women’s wombs and those in power and others have lost their empathy, we need things to change. My body, my choice - no one else’s.
