As part of Minerva Arts 10th birthday all of the staff are setting themselves challenges to help raise some money for development of the youth theatre groups. After much deliberation I decided to take on a skills challenge and over the next 10 weeks I will be learning British Sign Language. I think it is a great skill to have and can be a useful tool within youth theatre.
Although it may not be a physically demanding challenge, for me, having the worst memory in history, it is a huge challenge and one I am really looking forward to.
It costs around £15000 a year to run their 8 youth theatre groups. Some of this is generated through fees, funding grants and shows, however they need a little more, to help keep fees low so all groups are accessible for all young people, while keeping performances and experiences at a high quality. I would love to see Minerva Arts carry on for another 10 years, creatively supporting young people throughout Cheshire.
