Pinney Talfourd LLP have chosen Havering Association for People with Disabilities (H.A.D) as our charity of the year 2019/20 and our first major challenge is an abseil down the ridiculously high Arcelor Mittal Orbit on Sunday 4th August.
The Arcelor MIttal Orbit is the UK’s highest freefall abseil at 262 feet above the city. Four volunteers from the firm (who were clearly not paying attention in the meeting and said 'yes please' thinking they were being offered a biscuit) will jump off the edge of Anish Kapoor’s red lattice tower in the hope of gliding gracefully down to terra firma. In reality, it will be a freefall descent by some very terrified people and probably involve a lot of screaming....and maybe a bit of pushing to get them started.
H.A.D provide a broad range of services and activities for people with physical disabilities and carers in the London Borough of Havering. They were nominated as our Charity of the Year by numerous staff members who have seen first hand the incredible work they do to ensure those with disabilities continue to have a voice, a choice and control over their lives.
Please support Michael Robey, Nicholas Conway, Richard Collins and, doing it for the girls, Victoria Bunn, by sponsoring what you can to help this great local charity... and ensure they don't chicken out!
We have put together a little picture of what we think they will look like in our profile picture. Havering Association for People with Disabilities
