RE:ACADEMY are holding 12 Workouts of Christmas 2024 in support of Kinship Care NI's Christmas Appeal.
Kinship Care NI are a local charity supporting children who are being brought up by grandparents and other family members because their own parents are unable to care for them.
Christmas is a difficult time of the year for children living in kinship care because they don't have their mum or dad around to care for them. Some children will be coming to terms with the death of a parent. Other children will be experiencing the separation of their siblings who are living in other care arrangements such as foster care and residential care.
RE:ACADEMY have been supporting children in kinship care for the last 2 years - raising thousands and thousands of pounds to help with toys and gifts for children at Christmas.
2024 will be no different as everyone at RE:ACADEMY and local businesses pull out all the stops to make Christmas magical for local children who haven't had the easiest start to life.
The 12 Workouts of Christmas will take place on Saturday 14th December 2024 from 5am to 5pm. All you have to do is book a slot, complete a workout and raise money for children in kinship care this Christmas.
Lily (age 3)
Lily has been in the care of a foster family since she was born. Lily was subject to public care proceedings and was adopted earlier this year.
Lily doesn’t understand Christmas, but we know from speaking to her carer that Lily would benefit from some educational toys – particularly toys to help her talk and engage in play. Lily would also benefit from a Wendy House and blocks, bricks and story time books.
