In 2024, I celebrated a significant birthday where I maybe should have been thinking of settling down with a pipe (I don't smoke) and slippers in front of the fire, I decided not to do this and instead to do a year of (mainly running) challenges and use them to raise funds for The St Petrocs Society, the Cornish charity which supports the homeless.
I am a trustee of St Petrocs and have been involved with them for some time. Demand for our services is at a high. This is not right, no one should be homeless in this country in the 21st century.
So in 2024, I've taken on -
April - London Marathon - 26.2 miles along this iconic route. Awesome day out and covered 27.43 miles!
June - Scilly 60% - 38 km split over 4 of the inhabited Scilly Islands. Not quite as planned but still enjoyed the day.
August - Bring Out Your Dead - 24 hours of 5 mile loops on the Cornish Coast Path - 500 steps in each loop. Standing on a nail ended this for me after 4 loops.
The Woods - 12 hours of continuous 4 mile loops around Tehidy Woods. 9 loops done - 37 ish miles.
November - The Cornish Marathon - 26.2 miles around Bodmin Moor - loved this and a great way to end my challenges.
So I'm done! Its been a tough year and my legs are tired but this is nothing compared to the challenges people without a home face.
I hope you can support me with a few pounds which will go directly to supporting those who so need help at a terrible time in their lives.
Thank you!
