Stripey Stork is a Reigate-based baby bank which takes in donations of cots, buggies, books, toys, clothing and other essential items for children up to the age of 16. Items are quality and safety checked by their team of volunteers who ensure that each parcel is the same quality that they would expect for their own children or grandchildren "a gift and not a handout".
Professionals across Surrey including health workers, schools and women's refuges will then make a referral to Stripey Stork on behalf of the families they support and items are passed on, free of charge. What Stripey Stork does is essentially recycling, but the impact that this community kindness has on families experiencing hardship cannot be understated.
“Through my role as a Trustee of a charity that donates money to organisations I have come across many charities in Surrey. Stripey Stork is one such charity and I never cease to be amazed by their work in helping to support local families in need. They started out in 2013 and have gone from strength to strength and now help over 6000 families a year by providing them with clothes, baby equipment and toys. Having seen the difference they can make to a family is the reason I have nominated them as my charity. “ Maggie
