Depending where you get your statistics (England and Wales) between 1 in 3 and 1 in 4 will experience domestic abuse in her lifetime. A woman dies at the hands of her partner or ex partner every 3-5 days. The police receive a call about domestic abuse every 30 seconds.
Community services are woefully under funded and need all the support they can get.
Nottingham Central Women’s Aid are there to protect and support women and children who have experienced domestic abuse or sexual violence. Their work is rooted in the belief that abuse stems from power, control, and inequality, and that women and children deserve to be safe, heard, and empowered.
Based in Nottingham, they welcome referrals from across the country. Many of the families they support have experienced ongoing abuse even after leaving a relationship, including coercive control, stalking, harassment, and the challenges of prolonged court cases. They are a specialist service, working with families who may face multiple disadvantages and helping them to achieve the best outcomes possible.
Every penny donated to the charity goes directly toward supporting women and children affected by abuse.

In March I am aiming to run a total of 100km. My fitness and running journey, as a lot of you will know, took a hit over the last 4 months with two cancelled 10k events. Currently I don't feel I have a long run in me, but what I do have is determination, the will to improve, sheer bloody mindednes.
