As many of my friends and family know, I work as a SOIT Officer for Sussex Police. A SOIT is a Sexual Offences Investigation Trained Officer who is deployed to who those who have experienced a serious sexual assault or rape. I am there to support and advocate for victims of serious sexual assaults and cases of rape.
I work with many brave women and men day in and day out and I felt I needed to do more to support our wonderful partner agency, The Survivors Network. I am aiming to raise funds as the facilities and outreach the team at Survivors Network have really do impact the forward journey of these courageous individuals.
I will be running 26.2 miles over the South Downs on 22nd October to raise funds with each of the survivors I have worked with, in mind. I have been training and thinking about the journey of those I work with take through the Criminal Justice system, it is a really tough one. Being able to lean on the Survivors Network is hugely instrumental in offering a life line that is completely independent from the Police.
Sadly, many of us know someone who has experienced crimes such a these but together we can work to support the healing that can be done afterwards.
Any support and donations are gratefully received and I know all the hard working and dedicated investigators, detectives and multi-agency partners feel the same.
Thank you.
Amy
