This year, as part of our community and inclusivity initiative at UEA Surf, we are carrying out our FIRST EVER charity surfing comp, “Surf the Rainbow”!!
We want to showcase the work of the incredible LGBTQ+ Project, a local Norfolk charity that provides guidance, community and mental health support for LGBTQ+ people of all ages.
The event is open to people of all levels within the club, from total beginners to experienced surfers. It will be a low-stress and fun comp with lots of silly events, such as the fastest time to put on your wetsuit because every surfer knows that is a real challenge!
Throughout my time at UEA, I have valued the welcoming community within surf, where I have felt safe to be myself. Now I want to show our members and the wider university that everyone is welcome in our family, and showing our support for the LGBTQ+ projects and catching some sick waves is our way of doing it!!
If you would like to cheer on our members who are competing and show your support for the amazing work of the LGBTQ+ project, you can do so here
