"After Rappaman did a Read Aloud Proud workshop, a child who previously struggled now writes a new poem or rap every week and performs it in the playground. He is still doing it a year later!" Teacher at Linthwaite Clough Primary

Our annual Schools Programme brought the joy of stories, creativity and confidence-building workshops to more than 4,000 students across Kirklees in 2025. From inspiring assemblies to hands-on sessions with talented tutors, we’ve seen young people light up with new ideas and a love of reading.

But we can’t do it alone.

As we head into 2026 — our 20th anniversary and the National Year of Reading — your support is vital. Every donation, big or small, helps us reach more children and young people who deserve the chance to discover their voice, explore their creativity and take part in something truly special.

Many primary and secondary schools are finding it harder than ever to offer quality creative arts and literature activities. Our workshops give pupils a rare opportunity to write, perform and learn in ways that spark imagination and build confidence, all guided by warm, relatable tutors.

By supporting the Schools Programme, you’re opening a door — inviting students to discover what HuddLitFest can offer them, their families and their futures.

Together, we can keep this life-changing programme alive.

"The workshop inspired a love of reading and of books" EYFS Teacher, New Mill Infant School

“I really enjoyed how Rob modelled the courage of vulnerability at the assembly – the pupils LOVED seeing him freestyle on the spot!” Teacher at Moor End Academy

"The workshop was a brilliant opportunity to write without the shackles of the National Curriculum, and the way that the children could generate their ideas was really well done.” Teacher at Marsden Juniors
