Simone’s Childrens Charity Challenge

For over a decade I’ve volunteered each summer for a fantastic volunteer led charity ‘Sefton Children’s Trust’.  We take away a group of 70 x 8-12 year olds on a week long activity residential where they have fun, make friends and be part of our Sefton Children's Trust big family. This week is respite from the challenges these kids are experiencing and the only holiday opportunity they are likely to get. For two years during the pandemic they’ve missed out so we want 2022 to be their best summer! Running has always been my quality time for me. My time to reflect, plan, set goals, think about how to deal with difficult things and catch up with my running buddy. During the pandemic running kept me going! Many kids did not have any opportunity for release and time out. I know our kids will have faced so many difficult days so want to run to fund as many places for kids to come on our residential as I can over the next year. I turn 40 in November 2022 and one of my goals is to achieve a marathon before I set off the birthday fireworks! My training and fundraising starts now with the Liverpool 10 miler as my first challenge on Sunday 12th September 2021. One residential place costs £350 per child so that’s my first funding goal for this first 10 mile challenge which I’ll be running with one of my best mates Clare. I’d love you to dig deep and help cheer me on to achieve it in under 1hour 50mins. Thankyou for your support xxx
