We've got a story to tell
About a problem that's real and growing like hell
Homelessness in our streets, it's a sight to behold
People sleeping rough, feeling cold
So let's come together, and make a change
For the homeless in our streets, let's rearrange
Their lives for the better, let's give them hope
So they can sleep soundly, and finally cope.
On Friday 24th March my Mum and I will be giving up our beds for the night and will experience just a fraction of the challenges of what it is like to be homeless. No tents, no slippers, no service!
According to research published by Shelter in December 2021, at the time more than 274,000 people were recorded as homeless in England, of which 126,000 were children.
Homelessness is a real and growing social issue, we are raising funds to help those who need our support the most. The funds raised will provide support packages for those who are at risk of homelessness when transitioning into their accommodation and out of care. It will provide the basic essentials such as pots, pans and towels, items which we often take for granted.
