We were all devastated by the tragic loss of Sophie Masterson on 10th April 2024. Sophie adored sunflowers, which led us to find the charity Touchstones, who last year were the chosen charity for the Wythall sunflower field. The charity support bereaved children and young people; we know Sophie would be proud to know we are supporting this charity in her memory.

Family & friends of Sophie will be embarking upon a walk in the Lickey Hills near Birmingham in her memory. There will be a 10k trail and a 5k trail to suit all abilities.

A few words from Touchstones:

Every child or young person who goes through the tragedy of bereavement needs loving support as they face their loss, but sometimes additional support from outside their family can help them through their pain and grief. The team have years of experience in working with children and young people struggling to deal with the loss of a loved one.

Touchstones provide free one-to-one support and weekend experiences for local children and young people who have had someone that they love very much die – and they believe they can make a difference.

  • £5 could pay for a memory box for each young person

  • £15 could pay for craft materials used in the 1-1 sessions

  • £30 could buy all the candles for the candle-time memory ceremony at the Touchstones Day

  • £50 would buy for two 1-1 sessions for a child or young person with a counsellor

  • £250 pays for a child and young person through all their 1-1 support sessions

  • £500 pays for hiring the facilities, Outdoor Staff and Outdoor activities at one of the special Touchstones Memory Days
