I started running at the start of 2015. I had never been someone who was particularly athletic. As someone with a visual impairment, I did not really think that sport was for me. Running changed that. It has given me new confidence in myself and what I am capable of. Over the past eight years I have completed seven half marathons, two marathons, and one hundred and fifty four five kilometre Parkruns. Running gives me freedom and has inspired me to take up other sports such as Visually Impaired Cricket.

Running one of the world's major marathons has been a dream of mine for a few years now. I entered the incredibly popular ballot for the London marathon with no expectation to obtain a place. Needless to say, when I got my place, I was delighted. I have been training hard over the winter and am looking forward to the event... with a few nerves. I remember watching the London Marathon on TV as a child and being in awe of anyone taking part, never thinking that would be me.

Bournemouth Blind Society (BBS) are a wonderful local charity. They support the local community through a wide range of social events, education, and practical and emotional support. The last few years since the pandemic has been tough for all charities, but smaller charities have suffered the hardest. If you can spare a few pounds to help to support this great charity, it would be greatly appreciated
