Bedfordshire Open Door (BOD) are celebrating their 30th year of providing the only free counselling service to young people (13-25) in Bedford and surrounding area. I have just finished serving as a trustee and treasurer after nearly 15 years involvement with this charity. Over the years I have met many wonderful people, most of whom have been volunteers, all dedicated to improving the mental heath of young people.

During my time the organisation has grown nearly three-fold, but unfortunately demand has increased by even more and the fact that waiting lists are frequently having to be closed is a sad reflection of the need in the local community. In the absence of any significant NHS funding the charity is very dependent on non-statutory donations and awards. My fundraising challenge is to help lift the profile of the charities work in Bedfordshire and to generate some funds to help it continue its great work.

I recommend visiting the charity page to learn more of the charities work.

Steve's 30 Par Golf Challenge

Thu 02 Oct 2025

As a golfing "hacker" (I average 106 shots per round) I thought I'd challenge myself to achieving 30 pars (or better) before the end of March 26. I started on the 2nd of October 2025 and I sunk my last par on the 4th February 2026. 278 holes played to achieve it (29 pars and 1 birdie).
