Men's Mental Health is often overlooked with societal pressures to 'tough it out' and with rates of suicide higher in men, in fact men account for three quarters of all suicides, and male suicides have always been disproportionately high. Suicide is the leading cause of death globally for men, across all age groups. I found myself having booked a number of running events unintentionally close together, with Round Sheffield Run on the 28th June (15 miles) and the Derby half Marathon the following day on the 29th June (13 miles) and then the following weekend of the 6th July, the Tittesworth Water 22km (805m elevation). I thought about not doing all of them but then also thought this might be a challenge to raise some money for a very good cause. Whilst the events are not exceptional, this will be a genuine challenge for me, especially the back to back events and so hopefully you will be able to support this worthy charity who do great work supporting men's mental health and particularly in trying to reduce suicide rates in men.
