The Homeless Pastors has always shared a love of art & music. We are thrilled to announce an exciting partnership with a long time supporter of our work and vision, and a local musician and songwriter. Our friend Simon Endeacott was also Chair of Trustees for Happy Days and worked alongside Dave who was the founder and CEO for many years….
So Simon is writing and recording an ambitious musical project which will culminate in the release of an album which tells the interesting story of his own journey to freedom and enlightenment. Here is his story.
Simon was born and raised into the Jehovah’s Witness denomination. He remained within this strict sect until he was 33 with a young family of his own. However in 1999 his eyes were opened to the truth about the Watchtower organisation, and after believing wholeheartedly that he belonged to the exclusive “one true church” he came to accept a wider concept of faith and belief. At that point he was forced to choose between remaining loyal to an organisation which demanded strict adherence to a narrow, elitist interpretation of Christian belief, or the wider Christian faith and Christian church as a whole.
Leaving the belief structure he was born into was not an easy thing to do because the Jehovah’s Witness organisation practices the shunning of anyone who leaves their fellowship if they openly and vocally challenge the authority and leadership of the denomination, rather than quietly ceasing to attend official meetings.
This resulted in the complete ostracism of the individual who leaves or is disfellowshipped in these circumstances. Simon was branded apostate and left behind lifelong friends and members of his immediate family.
Simon is hoping to raise vital funds for the work of The Homeless Pastors, please support us…
