Men’s suicides amount to around 78% of the annual totals.
Men’s mental health is becoming more and more of a talking point and the total men seeking help is on the rise but there is still a “stigma” around men talking about their problems and mental health issues whether it be stress, anxiety or depression. This is something that we have to change.
Men’s Minds Matter (MMM) are a charity that are doing exactly that. They are reaching out and giving a place where men can discuss their problems without judgement and help them on the path to recovery and getting themselves back before it is too late.
Terry, a former Royal Marine, has experienced these struggles first hand and has suffered with mental health problems since his departure from the forces. Unfortunately, he has seen close friends go through the same problems who ultimately paid the ultimate price and this has brought him and his best friend Chris on a quest to do what they can to increase awareness and ensure that the number of good men losing their lives through mental health is lowered and great charities like MMM get the funding they need to help spread awareness and change the lives for so many men in need of help.
So what are they doing to raise the funds?…
Terry and Chris will be climbing and descending Pen-Y-Fan, the highest peak in South Wales, 10 times in 24 hours on the 13th May 2023.
This challenge will accumulate in 29,094 feet in elevation, which is the equivalent to Mount Everest!
This challenge is something they do not take light hearted and plan to do this in the best time possible to show what you can truly achieve when you put your mind to it, just like all the men around the world can when they have to tackle their own “mountains” in their minds!
Please donate what you can and share their story to help spread the word and raise as much as you can to help support this amazing cause.
Thank you!
