2026 is the tenth anniversary of the first ROF bike ride and there are ten planned events (maybe more) to commemorate the first attempt back in 2016. This will mean two overseas bike rides, four local rides, some challenging walks and a few extreme (positively nutty) escapades too.
I will be attempting as many of these events as possible because last year was just so damn enjoyable!
The first ride, our BIGROF26 is a short sharp 170 miles in Northern France and Belgium and even Queef is riding.
Early start to Dover : Ferry to Dunkirk , cycle from Dunkirk to Depanne-Diskmunde-Ypres. Overnight in Ypres and the Menin gate last post ceremony (where we will participate in the Colour Party, and ceremony). Friday am early doors off to Roubaix (and one lap of the outdoor Velodrome), up to Plugstreet (twin town with our very own Wolverton, Milton Keynes) and then Vieux Berquin (WW1 memorial) and a stop at Talbot House in Poperinge, before our dash to Dunkirk and the 8pm Ferry back to Dover. 170 miles over 1.5 days. Easy? On paper yes....still a lot of miles.
