Team Fundraisers

A weekly Tums and Tinies group is run at both Woodside and Sutton Hill. Baby Yoga and massage is offered once a month. Discussions within the group are also very appropriate and helpful for the parents. Topics such as breast feeding, weaning, walking, sleeping and tummy time regularly come up without any need for coaxing from staff. Parents can therefore swap stories and advice and find the groups very helpful. Practical activities such as weaning can also be tackled in a relaxed atmosphere.

Why they need our service

All women need support through the stressful times that will occur either before or after their pregnancies. Living on an estate without your own transport can make accessing friends or family so difficult that many mothers are left socially isolated. This can lead to postnatal depression and poor bonding with their babies. By offering an opportunity to meet other local mothers with babies up to the age of confident walkers, new friendships are formed and can lead to support beyond the groups.

Plan and expected results

We currently have 35 mother's and babies across Tums and Tinies in total on the two estates. Pregnant first time mums have also found the natural discussions in groups very helpful as they are able to find out what to expect without feeling that they are being lectured to.Socialisation and support growth is apparent in multiple forms throughout the groups. When mums with new babies are in need of an extra pair of hands at group other parents quickly step in. Facebook support is now also a reality
