On November 19th, 2025, we lost William (Willie).
Over the past 2 years, Willie had been battling Dementia, all the while continuing to showcase what an incredible, caring, loving and funny, Husband, Stepdad, Dad, Papa, Grandad, friend and relative to his family he was.
During these 2 years, Willie took great pleasure in attending the memory club at The Brooklands Centre, run by an incredible team of volunteers. It was an opportunity for him to not only socialise, something he loved to do, but also spend time with people who themselves understood and could best relate to what he was going through. The memory club offered Willie a chance, whilst living with Dementia, along with many others living with memory-related problems to enjoy social interaction in a friendly, supportive environment. As an independent charity, reliant on fundraising and donations, alongside the incredible people who offer their time to ensure this vital, important community run centre remains open.
We, Willie's family would like nothing more, as we know he would've for anyone wishing to send flowers or gifts of condolence to instead contribute towards this fundraiser (a very personal matter to our hearts) so as to allow people like Willie, in the future to escape from their on-going battles and be themselves, leaving their worries behind for few hours twice a month.
About the volunteers, Hazel and the team were incredibly welcoming of Willie, making him feel at home and a part of the team, so much so he would turn up early to help set-up the room, and stay at the end to help pack away. Those who knew Willie would say this was the type of man he was, always willing to help anyone who needed it.
