YCW, the young Christian Workers , for the last 10 years, have been serving and delivering Christmas Dinner and food parcels to the vulnerable and needy on Christmas Day. YCW are again, this year organising the event which takes place in Bury Parish Church Hall, providing a delivery service on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and a drop in café for anyone who would enjoy some company on the day.

With the help and generosity of the wider community, last year, we were able to prepare and deliver over 1000 Christmas meals, each with a gift-wrapped present in.  Discretely deliver toys to 300 families and serve 100 homeless and vulnerable guests to sit down for Christmas dinner in the hall. Sadly, this year the demand is going to be even higher with many people having to turn to food banks not knowing where their next meal is going to come from and finding themselves in circumstances that they never imagined.

We want to help to make it not about the tinsel, the parties and the supermarket queues but to put the true meaning back into Christmas now and ‘be there’ with a gift that can truly help transform lives. The event, however, cannot take place without funding and help.  We are not asking for a specific donation, just whatever you can spare to help us to put the event on, and to make it a lovely day for those who need it most. The YCW team in Ramsbottom and Bury are a small but dedicated group and we couldn't think of spending Christmas in any other way.
