For 10 years 'WHEELS FOR ALL - BATH & WEST', a fully inclusive project, has provided cycling opportunities at Odd Down Cycle Track for hundreds of users from 8 - 80 years of age. One of these users over the past decade has been my daughter who was born with cerebral palsy. The project changed her life when it was first launched during her teenage years and it continues to be a much enjoyed recreational activity for her. WFA: Bath & West provides physical exercise/therapy, social interaction and engagement. It aims to meet the needs of adults, children and young people who might have physical disabilities, learning, sensory or communication difficulties, mental health or social isolation/marginalisation issues or, for example, be on a rehab recovery programme following a stroke. Over 10 years it has developed a range of adaptive hand cycles and side by side trikes in order to provide a unique experience to many of its users in a supportive outdoor environment. As part of the national inclusive cycling charity, Cycling Projects, WFA: Bath & West is run by a dedicated team of support staff who oversee the maintenance, storage and transportation of the equipment. Parents, carers, family members and volunteers play a vital role, as does the Friends of Wheels For All, Bath & West, in sustaining the project. WFA: Bath & West is coordinated by Chris Revill who has worked tirelessly and inspirationally over the past decade. However, due to the demand on the existing equipment, there is a desperate need for another trike which is both popular and which meets the needs of many of its adult users. The TOPCAT DRAGON was designed and developed in partnership with Cycling Projects with a local firm in Gloucester, It retails at £1378 plus VAT which is the amount this 10th BIRTHDAY APPEAL aims to raise. Please give generously, especially if you enjoy the freedom, fun and social interaction of cycling. COVID stopped WFA cycling but now it is back & FOR ALL!
