On Sunday 26th September, I found myself standing on the edge of a hotel rooftop in Belfast.
Then, in one of the scariest moments of my life, I said my prayers and starting climbing down the front of the building to the ground (inspired by Spider-Man 😂).
Thankfully, I was attached to a (very strong) rope and, a few minutes later, I was celebrating the completion of a 50m abseil from the top of the Europa Hotel - also known as “the most bombed hotel in Europe”!
You may be wondering, why?!
You see, none of this would have been possible if I was blind. And unfortunately, there are many people who simply have to accept blindness as just another harsh reality in their lives. They don’t have a choice.
This is in support of Angel Eyes Northern Ireland, a fantastic charity dedicated to creating a fully inclusive society for blind & partially-sighted children, young people, and their families.
To have a child diagnosed with permanent visual impairment can have a devastating impact on the whole family. Angel Eyes’ vision is to provide every blind/partially-sighted child and young person equal access to everything they need to flourish in life - and they need all the help they can get to continue helping visually-impaired people to live their best lives.
I’ve set a donations target of £200 and would be grateful for anything you can spare to help support this worthy cause.
Thanks for reading :)
P.S. Thanks to Belfast Activity Centre, Angel Eyes NI, and especially Jane Robertson for this incredible opportunity :) what a morning!
