The activities will be based around 3 core projects, Woodwork,Outdoor Sports and Motor Education. Woodwork will cover making things such as bird boxes, planters and feeder trays, as well as some more unusual things such as a Giant Dominoe Set. Outdoor Sports includes open boating in our 16 foot Indian Boats under the eyes of our qualified instructors. Motor Education is based on go-karts and the young people can dismantle and re-assemble the karts and have the chance to drive the completed kart.

Why they need our service

There are many young people in our community who do not have the same opportunities to undertake activites that allow them to challenge the limits of their physical and mental abilities. Compass Bridge gives young people with physical and mental disabilities the chance to get involved in activities that would normally be outside their own daily life opportunities in a safe and controlled environment. It gives respite to families and carers and a confidence boost to the young people.

Plan and expected results

The young people who attend our sessions, leave with a boost to their confidence and personal well-being. They will have more of a "can do" attitude to life in general. The activites will show them that they can do some things that they never thought was previously beyond their capabilities. Their families get some respite time while the young person is with us, and they get back a young person full of enthusiasm and happy memories of their time with us. They are more open to future challenges.
