A bit unorthodox as I ran the Fulham 10k a few days ago, but still… I could use your help raising funds for my chosen charity. The spirits at the event were great, and I was proud to be a part of West London Welcome's amazing action. Feel free to support them for all their hard work in the community. West London Welcome was Latymer's last year's charity of choice.
"West London Welcome is a free weekly drop-in centre for refugees, asylum seekers and migrants and is the first of its kind in the area. The centre caters primarily to individuals and communities who have settled in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham and neighbouring parts of the city. We were set up by local people active in Hammersmith’s Refugees Welcome Group, and opened our doors in January 2018 thanks to the generous provision of a wonderful space from the Hammersmith Quaker Meeting House.
We know that it takes time to find a way to belong, especially after leaving one’s own country under traumatic conditions, so we strive to give people that time. We work together to build a safe, positive experience of community where strangers can become friends. The centre provides a warm space for people to come in out of the cold, have a cup of tea and socialise, learn English, share ideas, get advice, and escape often chaotic accommodation and isolation."
