Hey everyone!
I've signed up for the Hackney Half in May to raise money for KEEN London, a great charity that I volunteer with. They provide one-to-one sports and other activities for children and young adults with disabilities, consisting mainly of weekend sessions during term times and the occasional trip.
The kids really love coming along to the sessions and they also give the caregivers a break. In addition, KEEN offers these sessions at no cost to the families! This is why donations and fundraising is so important: funds raised from these events made up over 20% of KEEN's total income last year.
For added extra (this is me after all), a team of us are planning to run the whole thing with a staple of the KEEN weekend sessions: a parachute! The idea behind the challenge is to spread the message that every child deserves the chance to play. These opportunities are sadly lacking for young people with disabilities, which is why KEEN is a much needed service.
More info on what the charity does can be found on their website (www.keenlondon.org) and their Youtube channel (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCEAOBAInhVcKlgggjqi8b2g).
Anything you can donate would be greatly appreciated, and will help the charity to continue providing these sessions for free and to allow more children to access the sessions.
Many thanks and wish me luck as I'm a new runner,
Aiden
