Aiyana’s FUNdraiser

On Wednesday 20th February, I shaved half of my hair for charity ( I still wanted to do it don’t worry!) The charity I’m raising money for is Sunshine and Smiles-Leeds Down Syndrome network. They give support and guidance to children and young adults with Down Syndrome and their families. This charity offers Speech and Language Therapy (SALT), swimming, dancing and singing all of which are designed to be accessible. Another interesting thing that Sunshine and Smiles have recently done is open a cafe called 21 Co. which employs young adults with Down Syndrome- they learn to use coffee machines, make tea and loads more! This is awesome as only 17% of people with learning disabilities are employed for jobs. They hope that in the future, there will be a cafe like theirs on every high street.
