As some of you will know I only started swimming lessons some 2 years ago., as it was the one life skill which at that time had evaded me. With a lot of help and encouragement I am now a competent swimmer and have even dabbed my toe with some local water swims. Special thanks to Jamie, Cathy, Chris and Andy. Where would I be without you. Also to all the lifeguards at Bootle Leisure Centre who have put up with me for the whole time and my many supporters at the pool. Some swimming facts: For me its a life skill I have picked up and greatly enjoy, however some indicators point to the fact that 44% of all adults don't possess basic water safety skills. Swimming is a great stress buster. Swimmers generally are confident people. One big myth however about swimming is that it assists with weight loss - oh well you can't have everything in life! Well time again to give something back and my charity chosen for my new challenge is a local children's charity - Children live 365 days of the year not just few weeks around Christmas. The charity I have chosen provides assistance and encouragement to young people, their families and carers, who quite often are entrapped in difficult domestic and social environments. So please help me to help others. Well I made it through quite easily - still time to donate. With government cuts charities need your money more than ever.
