We are raising funds to complete the new All About Me gallery with a small extension, and this is our most popular single attraction. The new gallery captivates children as they learn about science, the body and their own health and well-being, having a valuable long term impact on the next generation. Designed hand in hand with children, the gallery uses a mix of interactive and visual techniques to reach children, families and schools, including those disadvantaged by poverty and disability.

Why they need our service

The old Me and My Body gallery was 20 years old and in desperate need of updating. Advancements in technology and expertise in play and learning mean it was outdated. Research by the NHS suggests that childhood obesity is becoming a real problem in the UK. In Halifax a higher than average number of 5-10 year olds are obese. Schools have diminishing resources and tighter budgets in teaching the importance of health and well-being which is why we chose to keep health as a theme.

Plan and expected results

Inspire a whole new generation of children to care for and value their bodies. Create a shared learning environment for children and families. Create an educational experience that enables parents, teachers and children to discuss science, health and nutrition in an informal way. Influence the wider health and wellbeing agenda by promoting healthy eating and active lifestyles. Provide stimulating hands-on and interactive learning opportunities which suit children of all abilities
