In aid of the Amersham Band's Bandroom Appeal myself and a motley crew of "willing" cyclists are going to dust of our saddles and pump up those tyres to cycle 29 miles from Richmond to Windsor. The sponsorship raised for this event will go towards the £300,000 target for the Bandroom Appeal. This is a Team Fundraiser and all donations can be collective collected through this official page.
The Bandroom Appeal
Amersham Band are trying to raise £300,000 to purchase a bandroom. The current rented space is now too small to meet their growing needs. A new bandroom will give the band the ability to further expand, and to develop the community brass and beginner groups. There are also plans to open a brass academy for individual and group teaching.
How the funding will be spent
A total of £300,000 is needed to purchase a property which is on the market and is centrally located in Amersham. This will cover the capital cost of purchase of the freehold together with repairs and re-furbishment as required.
How this will benefit the community
Music making within a group has many positive aspects, it is fun, reduces stress, encourages social interaction, and can inspire people to take action to change their lives. The plans for Amersham Band will extend the accessibility of learning music throughout the local community, in particular to young people and senior citizens. The development of the bands will mean that more performances can be given for the enjoyment of local people, the band will be able to support more local events and social activities.
