My wife and son are regular attendees at the Families in Telford groups who are in need of finances to keep running these groups for those in the local communities of Sutton Hill and Woodside.
To help with this I am doing a sponsored walk along the Telford 50 mile trail. For more information on the trail - visit https://www.telfordt5050miletrail.org.uk/
The plan is to complete this on 1st and 2nd September. I will be starting and finishing at the start of the second part of stage 1, from Woodside bus stop for logistical reasons
I attempted this on 1st of September and managed 41.92 miles in 18hrs 54 mins. I then had to call it quits as my eyes were closing as I walked. While I appreciate this was not the full 50 miles, 42 miles is still a huge achievement. I walked 39 of those miles on my own unaided, and was accompanied by a friend for just 3 miles.
I burnt approximately 4500 calories according to an app on my phone ( although I think it may be more) and got through over 9 litres of fluid (and am still trying to get fully rehydrated today on the 2nd. During the walk I lost a stone of weight (a good part of this may be the dehydration.
Overall this was a massive mental and physical challenge, and I ask your sponsorship anyway.
I hope to raise £500 for Families in Telford through this, please sponsor me now and help me exceed this target.
