Spin is a popular but exhausting form of gym work - urged on by an instructor you cycle as a group accompanied by thumping music (I wear ear plugs!). The longest I've ever done is 45 minutes but for this Spin-a-thon which takes place at Brockwell Lido over two days on October 5 and 6 I'm planning to do 2 hours on Day 1 and one hour on Day 2. I'm supporting the Big Literacy Project because most boys referred to our charity, Southside Young Leaders' Academy, need urgent help with most aspects of literacy. Without these skills they are at a huge disadvantage in terms of pursuing their education, gaining employment and making important life decisions. That's why we've promoting literacy through group reading and creative writing and we intend the project to culminate with a big public event at the Camberwell Arts Festival in June 2014. Please give as much as you can and I'll spin like crazy to match your investment. We've over 100 riders taking part over the two days and they're all paying £10 per hour into Southside funds and our overall target is £2,000.
