The ARK at Egwood Triathlon Challenge Simon Rands ARK’s Operations Manager, his wife Catherine & our very loyal supporter, Marsha Miles (Marsha Miles Consultancy) are embarking on a massive triathlon challenge to fundraise for ARK’s future, ensuring ARK's survival through this second wave of Covid & continue to provide much needed support into the future.
Marsha is tackling the swim, 2 miles in total; Catherine is undertaking a 50-mile cycle ride around the countryside of the county & Simon is running 50 miles coast to coast from Watchet to Lyme Regis. We are raising money towards our core running costs; although we are open for clients, we are unable to run to full capacity due to current social distancing requirements; this is impacting on our finances which is unsustainable in the long term. We are a not for profit Community Interest Company.
We are extremely fortunate to have volunteer support, which means we currently only have two paid members of staff and in general low monthly overheads; however, we cannot open ARK on less than two staff, due to the number of people we support. We are a community facility and want to offer more community activities and involvement; due to Covid, ARK is seeing many more people suffering from social isolation or anxiety/low confidence, or people who just want to give back; please help us and support our ARK team in their triathlon challenge to make this happen! Any donation, no matter how small is appreciated. Marsha, has helped ARK on many occasions, in particular helping us to ensure that our business ideas could evolve into a viable sustainable company. Marsha has just completed her swim, as lockdown came into play she was aware that the pools were doomed for closure – her leg has been ‘independently verified’ by pool staff; Simon and Catherine will be running and cycling over the weekends of 14th and 21st November, so please look out for them and beep your horn if you see them along the way.
