Team Fundraisers

Although we are normally a Wrestling school, we currently run an emergency food hub to cover 4 wards of the City. As of January 2021, we have fed over 14,000 people. On top of that we are now providing 350 breakfasts a week to two schools for kids who never eat at home. We also assist with other issues for vulnerable people such as toiletries, clothing, furniture and signposting for additional support if we cannot help directly.

 Community shop plans

Moving ahead we are proposing opening a community shop to serve and support the local community and wish to engage with local residents to help run the shop so that it becomes a community shop in the fullest sense. Around this there will be other support on offer, whether that is job-hunting skills, mental health support, benefits support, joining or forming a community group to help confidence, or upskilling courses.

Ideally we want to transfer over the local volunteers helping us with deliveries into helping to run the shop. if we can get funding we would love a big community cafe at the back of the church which could also operate as a training centre to learn new skills.

Our impact on the community

We work with local people providing a centre and an environment which really helps to make people more active and to grow in confidence. We absolutely believe in being all-inclusive, and ultimately we want people to realise that everybody has something to offer. If we can enable people to grow and to benefit in every walk of their life then we are truly making a difference.

We work with everybody and provide different services to assist with the process. We also provide volunteer opportunities, work placement, steering and support and have seen a number of people upskill and move into paid work.

 Why we're asking for support

We have like many others not had our usual trading income since March of last year, we have been very fortunate during this time to receive funding and donations and we do continue to receive some, and we are talking to many others in an effort to keep funding going until we can hopefully start generating our own income again.

But, during this time we have sustained the majority of our usual operational costs as we've been working full time on the food hub, and the funding we've received is starting to run low. We are just asking around for support now so we are secured until we do get any new funding confirmed and also can start our Wrestling again - anything is very much appreciated.
