On Friday 24th of March 2023, Nugent will be asking supporters to give up their beds for the night to experience just a fraction of the challenges of what it is like to be homeless.
Homelessness is a real and growing social issue on the streets of Liverpool. We are raising funds to help those who need our support the most.
According to research published by Shelter in December 2021, at the time more than 274,000 people were recorded as homeless in England, including 126,000 children.
Nugent is working, in collaboration with Strawberry Field, event sponsor Krol Corlett and supporters Salvation Army, to help raise funds to alleviate homelessness across the North West.
Based in Woolton, Strawberry Field is the iconic site where John Lennon used to play as a child. Today, it provides sustainable employment opportunities for young people with learning difficulties. For nearly 70 years, it gave some of Liverpool’s most vulnerable children a refuge from turmoil and unhappiness – a safe, calm and spiritual home.
By taking part in Sleep Out with Nugent, I will help to raise money for Nugent's services that deal with homelessness or people at risk of homelessness.
The funds raised will provide support packages for those who are at risk of homelessness when transitioning into their accommodation and out of care. It will provide the basic essentials such as pots, pans and towels, items which we often take for granted.
