I am CEO of a fantastic local charity called Bonny Downs Community Association (BDCA), located in the London Borough of Newham. Every day I see two things - massive local need in one of the most disadvantaged areas in the country, but also amazing passion, commitment and ability from a staff and volunteer team determined to make a difference, determined to work together to change lives and transform our community.
On Saturday 25th October 2014 I will be cycling from The Well Community Centre in East Ham to Southend Pier (approx. 35 miles) with friends and colleagues of BDCA. All money raised will go towards combating loneliness among older people and providing support and advice for individuals and families struggling in poverty. We have planned this event to co-inide with Local Givings "grow your tenner" campaign, and so all donations up to £10 will be doubled, and if you are a uk tax payer, a one-time donation of £10 will generate £21.55 for BDCA!)
