
We provide music based opportunities for adults with learning disabilities and mental health issues. In Holbeck, Leeds. Our aim is to integrate marginalized people into the mainstream music scene within Leeds, giving people the chance to meet other musicians and feel part of what is happening within the Leeds area. We provide opportunities for people to challenge some of the long held beliefs surrounding disability and mental health through developing confidence's, skills and talents
Why they need our servicePeople with Learning Disabilities, Disabilities and Mental Health issues are amongst the most marginalised in society. The issues they face include; - Low educational attainment - Low income with a reliance on welfare benefits - Prejudice related to disability - Disabling attitudes from within society - Lack of opportunity for paid employment / or a vocation - A reliance on limited service provision through social care that is delivered on a basis of need rather than aspiration
Plan and expected resultsThe social objectives of Beat It Music include; Giving people a voice through music expression and songwriting, Providing opportunities in everyday places, For peoples talents and skills to be recognised, Connecting people within the music community As an outcome of Beat It Music aim to increase;, peoples confidence, peoples sense of belonging, peoples sense of control and self direction, peoples opportunities in life, Produce and perform some great music, To have fun.
