Having moved all our provision to Moor Road this summer, we're delighted at the positive impact this has had for us all at Beechtree - children, staff and parents. We have new families joining us in January 2013, so we will be re-opening our second kindergarten then. We're also delighted that we have increasing numbers in our parent & child groups. We're now launching an appeal to develop our wonderful garden and outdoor provision to ensure its sustainability through greater use.
Why they need our serviceWe will be building a larger, more weatherproof outdoor shelter/classrom. We are laying down effective ground cover to ensure the ground & grass is sustainable. We are creating woodchip pathways and putting in a new gate, so that we can have a safer entrance to the garden, via a different path/ car park. We need to raise significant funds to support the purchase of these materials. We are asking for parental/ staff support in lending a hand to carry out the project through December.
Plan and expected resultsOur project will ensure that children, families and staff have a safe, well-maintained and sustainable outdoor area. It will ensure that our two kindergartens and Parent & Child groups will be able to use the garden, at all times, and in all weathers, and for our larger community events, such as the Lantern Walk or fairs. We know from research that an outdoor learning environment is so critical in supporting children's health, well-being, creativity and positive behaviour.
