Deeds not words.A fundraising project by Nada IWD
The charity for 2017 will be BWA (Berkshire Women's Aid) who provide life-saving and life-changing support to victims of domestic abuse.
"Last year BWA had to turn away 73 people looking for that place of safety. That means for every victim we took in to refuge we turned 3 people away. Calls to our helpline grew by 58% last year."
Launching on International Women's Day 2017, our call-to-action will be to encourage people to fundraise for this vital service, to have conversations about domestic abuse and coercion and to commit to recognising that this is a gendered crime and our role in changing attitudes that lead to these abuses.
We will raise funds and awareness. We will campaign to protect these services from government cuts and to encourage schools to educate pupils in recognising abusive behaviours and to know they can report abuse they have either witnessed or experienced.
