My brave little sister, as many of you already know, is currently trying to sort through and deal with a variety of mental health issues. It has and continues to be be a scary time for her as she tries to cope with a variety of 'illnesses' that have a lot of stigma attached to them.
As always and in true 'Rebecca' style she is dealing with things with a delightful sense of humour and a go f#*! Yourself attitude of which I am incredibly proud.
I recently signed her up to receive a monthly 'Buddy Box' from a charity called Blurtitout. This box contains five gifts every month targeted at helping those with depression. The gifts can vary from crafts to keep you busy, bath sets to help you relax and postcards full of kind words. The idea is to let someone, who ever may need it, that you are thinking of them and for them to have a little something once a month to look forward to. Whilst the cost of the 'Buddy boxes' are paid for by whoever wishes to send the box - the foundation rely on donations to help cover training costs
£50 allows them to send a member of the Blurt team into a school or workplace, £150 allows them to recruit, train, mentor and offer a qualification to someone who is struggling to get back into employment. They will in turn, go on to provide peer support to 5 people who are affected by depression.
So on Friday August 12th - myself and my sister have decided to complete a muddy assault course in order to raise money for this very worthy cause. If you would like to donate then please follow the link to our local giving page. Thank you.
