We are improving facilities for cyclists. We plan to install cycle racks at key points around our community, starting with cycle parking at all new bus stops.
Fuel poverty, high costs of fuel, and a scattered population means that travel is both expensive and necessary to access shops, health care and education, as well as sports facilities
Our community council is working on a footpath and cycle network, and our local councillor is aiming to improve access to public transport by installing bus shelters along the main spinal road route. He has agreed that he will include installation of cycle racks if we can provide the racks.
This will encourage people to cycle to the bus stops for access to public transport, rather than driving to the bus stops and sheltering in their cars, or driving to their destination.
This will have a number of benefits, including increased fitness, financial saving, reduced environmental impact and increased community engagement in our projects.
