I am a sufferer of depression and crippling anxiety. It's hard; really f*****g hard - to live with - both within myself and for my family.
Blurt offer a way for sufferers and others to understand what depression and mental ill-health is. Here's what they say:
"..... Blurt exists to make a difference to anyone affected by depression. Being diagnosed can be overwhelming – there’s a lot to learn and plenty of prejudice to battle. Telling people is tough, and not everyone will understand. That’s why we’re here for you, whenever you need us, for anything at all.
We’ll help you understand depression and what it means for you. We’ll support you, listen to you and introduce you to people who’ve been where you are. We’ll help you break down barriers and broach the subject with those closest to you. We’ll help you help yourself, with a little knowing nod......"
The Blurt foundation has helped through some very tough times. They're kind, thoughtful and have very useful resources to help those who suffer - and those that live with - depression.
They're amazing and they do all this for nothing. How can I refuse to raise funds for an organisation like this?
So here's what I'll be doing:
I'll be walking 20k from Putney all along the Thames to St Katherine's Dock. Details of the walk are here: http://walktheworld.informa.com/event/london-uk/
I'll also be donating £50 to the World Cancer Research Fund - the main purpose of the walk for Informa (my employer).
Can you help me help others?
