This Saturday (tomorrow!) I will be running 45 miles around Bristol's Community Forest Path, trying to complete the comically muddy Bristol winter ultra marathon in under 12 hours. Sections of the path are currently under the bracing waters of Bristol's many rivers, so it promises to be an entertaining day.
Now of course you're thinking that this man certainly doesn't need an excuse to spend a day larking about in freezing flooded ditches. And that's probably true. But I'm hoping that by running this ultra I can also raise support and awareness for the vital work of BHN, a charity whose incredible work makes a massive difference to the lives of destitute asylum seekers in Bristol. The charity means a lot to my own family, and we have seen the impact its work can have on the lives of people caught in the loopholes of our asylum system.
Belated well done for a very good cause!
Sefo be adaladala... Well done!
I'm relieved I didn't have to cash in the 'key man insurance' (I think...) Massive congrats for coming 42nd, looking forward to hearing about the next crazy endeavour!
I made it! Thanks in large part to the incredible generosity here - which helped enormously through 9 hours of unimaginable mud and various levels of pain and delirium over the 75km. Thank you!
Good luck Al..!
