Meeting every Wednesday evening, the group initiates, plans and fundraises for projects of their choice. Always lively, fun, interesting, interactive, meetings are never predictable! Projects delivered include - themed Christmas Grottos with free gifts to 1500 children, regular Tea Dances for the older generation, annual themed BRIXAWARD evenings, soup runs for the homeless, beach cleans, free family fun days and the Yestoration gardening project which clears gardens for those less able.
Why they need our serviceThe group started when local young people said they wanted to do more in our community. They have learnt to write funding bids, plan activities, organise events. One of the aims is to raise the profile of young people in the local area, promoting the good work they can do when given the opportunity to become involved in the community positively. The group is recognised for the positive impact it contributes and supports many local, charitable events with a focus on connecting generations.
Plan and expected resultsYoung Vols is a chance for young people to turn their dreams into a reality. They have become a positive and vital local community group. All volunteers are given the opportunity to gain accreditation and acknowledgement for the work they do and the hours they commit. They gain increased self belief, greater confidence and a range of transferable skills. The diversity within the group teaches those involved tolerance and understanding, acknowledgement of difference and a valuing of each other.
